Pregnancy is a journey.
Move through it with strength.

Your body is doing something extraordinary. But with that comes back pain, shifting posture, pelvic pressure, fatigue — and a nervous system that needs as much care as your growing bump.

Prenatal Pilates at Breathe is not generic exercise. It is a specialist programme, developed over 10 years, that meets your body exactly where it is — in every trimester — and helps you feel stronger, safer, and more in control.

Backed by research: A 2016 study in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research found that prenatal exercise, including Pilates, reduces the risk of pregnancy-related complications such as gestational diabetes and preeclampsia.

Pilates for every trimester

Every trimester brings new changes. Our instructors modify your programme at every stage — so what you do at 10 weeks is very different from what you do at 32 weeks, and that's exactly how it should be.

First Trimester · Weeks 1–12
Foundation & Breath
Focus on deep core activation, diaphragmatic breathing, and pelvic floor awareness. We build a safe movement foundation as your body adjusts to early pregnancy changes, including the hormone relaxin loosening your joints and ligaments.
Second Trimester · Weeks 13–27
Strength & Stability
Your energy returns — and this is the ideal time to build functional strength. We work on core stability, hip and glute strength, posture correction, and balance as your centre of gravity shifts. Exercises are modified to avoid lying flat for extended periods.
Third Trimester · Weeks 28–40
Comfort & Labour Prep
Movements focus on relieving back and pelvic pain, supporting your bump, and preparing your body for labour. Breathing techniques, endurance, and pelvic floor exercises help you feel informed, strong, and ready for birth — and recovery.

8 ways Pilates supports
your pregnancy

🌿

Relieves Back & Pelvic Pain

Strengthens deep muscles that support your spine and pelvis — reducing the aches that come with a growing bump.

💪

Builds Core Strength

Supports your growing baby and reduces diastasis recti risk by training the deep abdominal muscles, not the superficial ones.

🧘

Strengthens Pelvic Floor

Prepares for labour and supports a faster postnatal recovery by training pelvic floor contraction and release.

⚖️

Improves Balance

As your centre of gravity shifts, Pilates rebuilds coordination and confidence in everyday movement.

🌬️

Teaches Breathwork

Controlled breathing reduces stress, supports deep core engagement, and is a powerful tool during labour itself.

🏥

Reduces Complications

Research shows regular prenatal exercise lowers the risk of gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and excessive weight gain.

😊

Lifts Your Mood

Gentle activity releases endorphins, reduces anxiety, and builds confidence as your body changes throughout pregnancy.

Speeds Recovery

Maintaining strength during pregnancy means faster postnatal healing — your body bounces back more efficiently after birth.

Specialist instructors,
not just fitness coaches

Every prenatal class at Breathe is led by STOTT PILATES®-certified instructors with specialist prenatal and postnatal training. Many of our team are healthcare professionals — physiotherapists and rehab specialists — who understand the clinical realities of pregnancy movement.

We have over 10 years of experience working with pregnant women in Singapore, across every trimester and a wide range of conditions including diastasis recti, sciatica, pelvic girdle pain, and high-risk pregnancies.

Always consult your doctor or midwife before starting any new exercise during pregnancy. Our instructors can liaise with your healthcare provider if needed.

Everything you
want to know

When can I start prenatal Pilates?
You can start from your first trimester, provided you have medical clearance and your pregnancy is uncomplicated. Many clients begin around weeks 8–12. The earlier you start, the more benefit you'll build throughout your pregnancy.
Is it safe if I've never done Pilates before?
Absolutely. Many of our prenatal clients come to us with no Pilates experience. Our instructors begin with the fundamentals and progress at a pace that's right for you and your pregnancy.
How often should I come?
We recommend 2–3 sessions per week to maintain strength, mobility, and flexibility throughout pregnancy. Even one session per week delivers meaningful benefits, especially for pain relief and pelvic floor awareness.
What if I have back pain, sciatica, or pelvic girdle pain?
These are exactly the conditions our prenatal programme is designed to address. Our instructors will modify your programme to work with your specific symptoms and provide targeted relief — many clients see significant improvement within a few sessions.
Can I continue after giving birth?
Yes — we offer dedicated Postnatal Pilates classes that continue your recovery after birth, rebuilding core strength, pelvic floor function, and upper body stamina. You can return as early as 6 weeks postpartum with medical clearance.
How do I book or find out more?
Simply tap the WhatsApp button — our team will answer your questions, recommend the best class format for your stage of pregnancy, and help you find the most convenient studio location.
